It's Official: Jay-Z Has Been Named The Super Bowl 61 Headliner
Image Press Agency. Shutterstock Images.Welp, it's official. Jay-Z has been announced as the performer for the 2027 Super Bowl Halftime Show in Los Angeles.
I gotta say, it was one of the more anticlimactic reveals that I can remember. But hey, at least we can finally stop theorizing about who's gonna headline.
By the way…so that report last week was true? The report that Jay-Z picked HIMSELF for the halftime show? I still don't get how that works, especially when there were murmurs that Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber were in the running for this one. But Hova pulled a Thanos, I guess, and just decided that he'll do it himself.
Giphy Images. It is pretty wild that they've now had three straight rappers headline the Super Bowl. And one of them rapped in Spanish! I imagine this decision won't be received well by a good chunk of America, just like the last two haven't. But at least Jay-Z is an oldhead who can appeal to multiple generations. And there's a shit ton of potential for some awesome guest appearances.
The main question is…does he do it? Does he bring out Kanye West…? We'll have to wait and see.
But I'm looking forward to Valentines Day. Even if my Eagles don't make it to the Super Bowl. Even if I don't have a girlfriend (which is likely). At least I'll still have Jay-Z on February 14th.
