Jaylen Brown Makes A Great Point. Lamb Chops Are Incredibly Underrated
Mitchell Leff. Getty Images. For starters, I would just like to say I love that Jaylen Brown has zero intentions on just letting this die. I'd be incredibly worried if Jaylen Brown came to Philly and was content with just saying that everything is cool between him and Jayson Tatum/the Boston Celtics. I want that anger, I want that hatred, I want that resentment to fester.
And he's doing so in the funniest way possible, by clarifying that there is no beef between himself and Tatum. Just a little order of lamb chops. And maybe some gravy on the side.
Beef is great, don't get me wrong. I don't want this blog to come across like I'm anti-beef. The thing that makes beef so great is just how versatile it is. You can't have ground beef that you cook for tacos, or perhaps form together into a patty to make a hamburger. Obviously you have all the different cuts of steak. You can have beef tenderloin, you can have a chuck roast, you can have brisket, you can a multitude of different beef ribs. Maybe you want some short ribs for a ragu, maybe some flanken-style bulgogi short ribs, or maybe a massive rack of smoked beef "dino ribs".
But let's not forget about lamb. Beef is just so prevalent in our culture, but a great cut of lamb can hold its own against anything on any menu. It's flavorful, it's tender. You get that small little layer of rendered fat to perfectly melt into your mouth and it goes so well if you are also able to get the sear perfect as well. The crunchiness of the exterior to go along with the velvety rendered fat, all culminating with a rich, tender, rosy-red center. A reverse-seared rack of lamb with a red wine reduction, braised with some herb butter, served with a side of roasted veg and scalloped potatoes? Come the fuck on. It doesn't get better than that.
And that's how you know there's something that is just always going to be there between Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. Maybe it's not out in the open. Maybe it's a little smaller and a little more tender. Maybe it's something that isn't going to be on the everyday menu. But when it shows up on special, you know you're going to want to order it. And it'll be on special in a couple of weeks when the Celtics come to Philly on November 10th.
Now all I want is lamb for dinner. Or as Max would say, some beef.
