"He's Not Signing" -- Canadian Hockey Fans Are On A Heater Right Now Terrorizing Americans, This Time Turn Their Sights On Quinn Hughes
Jordan Jones. Getty Images.Brady Tkachuk made his return to Ottawa last week and had an entire city come out to call him a dumb piece of shit who eats crayons, and chant that "Brady sucks" for 60 straight minutes. I know it's two sides of the same coin, but there was a clear difference that the fans were there to see Brady Tkachuk lose a hockey game more than they wanted to see the Senators win. It was just pure, non-stop hate. The type of hate you can't fake. The type of hate you can't teach. Brady Tkachuk abandoned the city of Ottawa, and they made sure to let him know about it.
Then we get to last night when Quinn Hughes finally got a chance to return to Vancouver after orchestrating a trade to Minnesota last season. It was clear that Quinn Hughes had zero intentions on re-signing in Vancouver once his contract is up, so the Canucks did what any sane organization should do and they traded their captain to make sure they got as much back in return for him as they could. Here we are about 10 months later, and the Minnesota Wild find themselves in a pretty similar situation. Quinn Hughes still hasn't signed a contract extension. He's still set to be an unrestricted free agent this coming summer. Bill Guerin is taking a risk every day that passes by because his return for Quinn Hughes is getting smaller and smaller. Should he look to trade him, or is Quinn Hughes going to sign an extension in Minnesota?
The fans in Vancouver made sure to let him know the answer.
Credit where credit is due, Canadian fans have been on one lately. These guys are all over the American players right now. And it's still all just a build up to what we're going to get in Winnipeg on November 10th when the New Jersey Devils come to town. Brady Tkachuk got it in Ottawa, Quinn Hughes got it in Vancouver, and Connor Hellebuyck is absolutely going to get it in Winnipeg.
And speaking of Hellebuyck, that's why the "he's not signing" chants have to sting a little worse for Bill Guerin and the Minnesota Wild right now. Because the truth always hurts the most. The Devils went out and traded for Connor Hellebuyck on Friday. So now they have Jack Hughes, Luke Hughes, and Connor Hellebuyck. Obviously there is a ton of cap to clear out if the Devils want to sign Quinn Hughes. But if they find a way to trade Timo Meier and Dougie Hamilton, then there's no doubt that the Devils are the leaders to sign Quinn Hughes. The moment there are even whispers being murmured about a potential Timo Meier or Dougie Hamilton trade, that's when the Wild need to pull the trigger and get at least something in return for Quinn Hughes before they lose him for nothing.
With all that being said, the Vancouver Canucks still suck at hockey. So getting to chant about Quinn Hughes is the highlight of their year.
They'll get a chance to do it again on November 21st, and then that's basically all Canucks fans have to look forward to this year. Your team sucks, there's no help coming through the pipeline, and nobody wants to sign in that shitty city. So they better get a few more chants ready for that next game because they have nothing after that.

At least Ottawa has a legitimate chance this year of being better than the Florida Panthers. The Canucks might be eliminated from playoff contention by real Thanksgiving.
