Buc Ball Might Be Back As Tampa Bay Looks Like A Real Contender To Win The NFC South

I fell in love with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the late 90s when they played a style affectionately referred to as "Buc Ball". Buc Ball was built on running the ball (which back then was with our thunder and lightning combo of Mike Alstott and Warrick Dunn) and a ferocious defense that pressured the opposing Quarterback and forced turnovers.

And Sunday's game in Charlotte, playing the Panthers was a reminder that Buc Ball is alive and well.

Tampa Bay pressured Bryce Young and later Kenny Pickett for five sacks while getting two interceptions and two fumble recoveries. One of the sack/fumbles shown above was even brought back for a touchdown.

And while the Bucs season certainly has been a disappointment so far at 2-5, they are now squarely in the division race.

With a game looming next Sunday against the Falcons, the Bucs could be breathing down Carolina's neck in a week's time. And if they can keep this version of Buc Ball going, Tampa Bay may be atop the NFC South at the end of this year.
