SGA Was Brought To Tears After Jalen Williams Suffered What Appears To Be A Devastating Lower Leg Injury

The crazy thing about sports is that in the blink of an eye, everything can change. In one brief moment, everything about your season can change. The Oklahoma City Thunder entered this season with revenge on their minds. After losing Game 7 of the WCF on their own floor to end their title defense, this year they entered the season healthy and through two games looked as good as ever. They took down the Spurs with ease, which given what took place last year was pretty significant. They followed that up by kicking the shit out of Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets. They looked every bit the part of the NBA title favorite many consider them to be.

But that's the thing about sports. It can all change in an instant

Holy fuck, that was awful. Your heart sinks seeing shit like that, especially for someone like Jalen Williams who just worked his way back to be fully healthy this season. He played just 33 games last year due to a number of different injuries, and you could make the case him getting hurt is what ultimately ended the Thunder's title hopes. So for an injury like that to happen in Game 3 of the new season? That's some cruel shit. The play reminded me a lot of the Gordon Hayward injury and I'd say SGA's reaction is pretty warranted. I don't care who your favorite team is or any of that, it's hard not to feel the same way when this shit happens. Injuries are the worst, and it's not as if this is a rolled ankle. This is most likely a devastating season-ending injury with a long recovery ahead. I mean, that shit was 90 degrees the wrong way. Gordon Hayward was never truly the same after his, you just never know. For this to happen to a player who just had to miss the majority of last season due to injury is fucked. Not a very cool move by the Basketball Gods if you ask me.

To think there was just 1:14 left in the game when this happened? That makes me sick to my stomach. It just goes to show, one play, one moment can change an entire season. I know the Thunder were able to survive without JDub for the majority of last year, but every season is different, and it's something that definitely now impacts their title chances. What a gut punch.

As always, injuries remain the absolute worst. If only there were a way to shut that shit off in all sports. Sadly, life isn't a video game, unfortunately.
