"Don't Tell Your Mother" Is The Real Bond Between Fathers And Sons

First time you have a catch, first time you have a beer, first time you hold your own child and realize what it's like ... all massively important moments between fathers and sons. But those are the 1 seeds, everyone knows about those. The ones that really hit different are the ones that are really unique, and in my opinion none more unique than the first time, or any of the times your Dad hits you with "Don't tell your mother."

It's the first time he really shows you trust. You're old enough to understand that what you are doing goes against some of the reestablished rules set forth in your house, your too naive to understand exactly why you can't tell your Mom, but you are also smart enough to know that you like the activity you are doing and if you want to keep doing it, you'll keep your mouth shut.

Staying out late, eating greasy food, seeing guys in a fight, it's all part of growing up, and your Dad always will explain the life lesson that goes with that at a later time, but it's always better if it's not in front of your mother. It's a vital part of growing up, and one of the fondest memories of childhood because it's a bond you know means a ton, and it's the first real time you feel like one of the guys. A pivotal moment, or moments depending how many times your Dad said it, and it was cool to relive that stuff this week.
