Go Go Grey's Miss Watermelon Tries To Make It Two In A Row And Some Plays For Saturday After a $50 Winner Last Week - At The Post With Mut

We are six days away from Day 1 of Breeders' Cup 2026.
As a horseplayer, these days represent two of the best chances to make a big score all year. We already have pre-entries, and we'll get final past performances this week. My approach to the two-day event is different from a normal Saturday at Saratoga.
First, we have a full week plus to put in the work. These are big fields with some of the best horses in the world. Some longshots are going to hit, but so are the big favorites. Going into the weekend, you need to know which favorites you're willing to lean on and which ones look vulnerable. I've been watching replays and taking notes for a few weeks. That gives me more confidence to make my plays on Friday and Saturday, and it frees me up to think more about betting than handicapping.
Because next weekend, that's just as important. I'm willing to bet more than usual, spread more, take a few more shots, during BC Weekend. There are going to be horses that are just WAY too high a price, and you have to be ready to take advantage. Even 3-1 can be an overlay when a horse should be 9/5 or 2-1.
Be aware the CAWs will be in the betting pools, so we'll need to watch for late money. Looking at probable Pick 3 payouts can be especially helpful in seeing where that CAW money will end up.
After three straight Cups out west, we get an ET Championship at Keeneland this year. Good. The Keeneland turf is a little quirky, and if horses have run well over it before, I will upgrade them in my own handicapping. Dirt sprints have seen outside runners (Post 7 out) do well during this fall meet, while dirt routes have been good to inside horses. That could be a factor next week.
If you can start your work this week and be open to spreading more Friday and Saturday, I think that will put you in a good position to make a score on one of the best betting weekends of the year.
Full coverage from me here and on X next week.

Miss Watermelon gets back to the track Saturday after her maiden win last month at Presque Isle.
She's the 3-1 and assuming they all run, she'll be every bit that price. The two Mark Casse runners on the outside, #5 Happy Destination and #6 She's Gold, have both run fast on paper. But Miss Watermelon won so easily last time; she could have run faster, in my opinion.
She'll need to get a little faster, but she's in good form and gets a very good jockey, Pierto Moran. He won the 2025 Eclipse Award for Outstanding Apprentice Jockey.
This is a tougher spot than last time, but I think she can still win and be in the mix late. Good luck and safe trip!
As for the rest of the stable, 2-year-olds Drake Graye and Mr. Popover are getting close to starts. With Mr. Popover working from the gate this week, I'd expect he'll get the first start in the next few weeks. He's getting some stable buzz…
Fellow 2-year-old Mr. Pistachio worked again at Fair Hill.
3-year-old Envision got back to the track at Turfway.
I talked to Dave Friday night, and he said he bought three more horses this week. I'll update those after Breeders' Cup - the GGG Stable is now over 40 horses, for sure.

DraftKings Racing Race Day
Some spot plays below. I know DraftKings will have some great promos for Breeders' Cup and we'll highlight those next week.
Planning on picks for every BC Race here Friday and Saturday. Last Saturday, we caught a great one at Keeneland.
KEENELAND RACE 7
#6 Dr. Kapur is a silly 12-1 ML. Ran into a good horse at Parx last time, has a win at Keeneland, and numbers on par with others in here. WIN/PLACE at 12-1, and maybe the best value of the day.
$50 winners are rare, so we celebrate them. Thanks to everyone who cashed and reached out. Great way to score before BC Weekend.
Today, we have Track Bet Bonuses at Horseshoe Indy & Mahoning Valley from DK Racing and DK Horse. And another Saturday Late Night Racing Bonus (after 10 pm). Make sure you OPT IN in the REWARDS/OFFERS tab to get involved and see the full details.
