Chef Donny And I Made Meatball Sliders Using Kings Hawaiian Rolls And They Were STRAIGHT FIRE FLAMES
A few things to get out of the way before the boo-birds start chirping in the comments.
1- Did Donny use an insane amount of onion in those meatballs AND sauce? Yes.
BUT, did it work? Also, yes. The sauce was fucking excellent and I don't know what it was about these combinations, but the onion was very subtle and not overpowering at all.
2- Did Chef Donny use a ridiculous amount of oil to fry up those meatballs? Yes. I thought they were going to high-dive off a platform into the pan that's how deep it was. But again, did it work?
Giphy Images.Just because he did things differently than I was taught, didn't make them wrong I learned. As long as the finished product turned out great, I'm not really going to complain how we get there.
And get there we did. Because these things were fire. The meatballs themselves, fried up perfectly on the outside, giving them a nice maillard char, finished in a sauce from scratch was lights out. Grilling/toasting those Kings Hawaiian rolls in a nice garlic butter was just flat out naughty. It put them so fucking over the top that when we added the melted provolone and grated parmesan, it was just running up the score at that point.
These things turned out so fucking good, really weren't that tough to make, and I couldn't recommend you giving it a shot this weekend enough.
