Will Stein Thinks 'It's Lame' For Anyone To Say The 24-Team Playoff Is Going To Make Games Not Matter Anymore Or Ruin College Football

That settles it for me. If Will Stein, a man who is 6-1, a man who people can't stop talking about, is threatening you with the lame take over the 24-team playoff? I'm in. Let me clarify even more. I'm not necessarily in vs I'm convinced it'll be fine. I don't want my head coach to lead me into battle thinking I'm lame. No sir. But I'm also fine with it if there's one specific change here.

Every team plays a 12 team schedule that is set up the same. 8 conference games, 1 rival game every year (Georgia-Georgia Tech, Clemson/South Carolina, Kentucky/Louisville, Pitt/WVU, etc), we get one week where it's SEC vs Big 10 and Big 12 vs ACC and then you get 2 games vs the group of 5 teams. No more FCS games. No more one conference plays 9 games, one plays 8 or whatever. If you're Notre Dame, fine, don't join a conference but your 12 games are set basically every year. I'm talking they have to play the teams we're used to - Michigan, USC, Army, Navy, Miami, Boston College. That's a good start. If you set it up to where we get awesome games that still have juice to it, fine.

Now as for the take from Will Stein. Look, I know where we are as a football program. We're not a traditional one. We're not traditionally winning - until Stein came here. A 24-team helps us as much as anything. Plus he's right. Commonwealth Stadium would be on fire for a playoff game, whether it's 12 or 24. That's right. We might talking about that this year. Speaking of this year, quick counterpoint to the Brandon Walker College Football Show featuring Brandon Walker:

He's not leaving after 1 year for Texas. This man spent his whole life waiting to be Kentucky's head coach. His father played here. He came to games here. He dreamt of playing here. He has this program set up for success in year 1 and beyond. Not to mention, Kentucky has money too. It's not Texas money, but we have money.

Now the 24-team thing? Yeah, I mean I'm anti-expansion in general, but if my coach says the game is going to be fine, then so be it. I'm never going to doubt him at this point so let's make some playoff games now.
