'We Still Suck. We Just Sucked Less.' - Jon Sumrall Doesn't Want To Hear Anyone Call Florida A Good Football Team Because They Beat Texas
I know what Jon Sumrall is trying to say here. Don't let the letdown happen like the Ole Miss game. But, there's something hilarious about saying your team sucks. You just sucked less against Texas, which is true. Texas might just not be good. Doesn't help they lost Collin Simmons too. But Jon Sumrall doesn't want to hear that Florida is good. He just wants them to suck less each week.
It's a solid way to look at it. You're not asking for the world. You're just asking for them not to suck as much each week. It's a simple development. So if you're a Florida fan, don't be saying you're a good team. Your coach (a Kentucky man mind you) wants you to know they still suck. That's the only proper way to talk about Florida at this time.
This is pretty true for the SEC this year. We've gone through so many 'this team is good' after they beat someone, then the let down happens. Except Kentucky. We haven't had a let down yet. But other teams have the let down. That's what Sumrall is trying to avoid. That's why he wants everyone to say Florida sucks. I don't care for it. I don't like that Florida has Sumrall. He's too good of a coach.
It's also a way better use of rat poison. Everyone uses the term rat poison now after Saban, just say your team sucks. You don't want them to suck as much. I do think this is the first time I've heard a coach talk like this after a win.
