Ballard OUT – After a Decade of Absolutely Nothing, The Colts Have FINALLY Fired GM Chris Ballard

Well, damn. It actually happened. You would think losing a winless Cam Ward, on the heels of back-to-back losing seasons, would be enough to get most head coaches fired. Especially when your own players (current and former) are publicly saying/tweeting things like this.

But not many franchises find themselves in a position where, more than anything else, in the middle of the season, the fan base just wants the GM fucking gone. Chris Ballard has been on borrowed time for so long that, even though we're only through Week 6 and the Colts are just a couple of games back of first place, this season is almost irrelevant. We can worry about what to do with the coaching staff whenever. If the Colts start winning games all of a sudden and find themselves in a playoff race, that's super. If they sell everybody, sure, that's great too. Getting Chris Ballard out the door is so just so damn refreshing. Whatever happens this season, I'll be light-years more optimistic heading into next year than I would be off a 9-8 and another year of Chris Ballard as GM.

It's been so hard to get up for anything Colts-related with Ballard at GM. The Colts have had 9 straight seasons of not winning the AFC South. That's almost hard to do. The AFC has been so shitty over the years, with no one ever establishing themselves as the dominant team, you should be able to fall ass backward into at least one division title. But nope. It was just a whole bunch of this.

At no point, even now, was he ever close to finding the Colts a franchise quarterback.

That's as "football purgatory" as it gets. Under Chris Ballard, the Colts were just about the most boring team in the NFL. Maybe the most boring team in sports. The best thing we have going for us is our mascot.

And now that Jim Irsay has passed, we don't even get hilarious headlines like – Colts owner plans to spend $20M for whale relocation

But I guess it's a tip of the giant hat to Jim Irsay's daughters. She finally followed through with what her dad probably should have done a long time ago.

This is the most I've looked forward to a Colts offseason in some time. And again… it's only Week 6. Overall, it's pretty bleak times for Colts' fans. But Chris Ballard and his big stupid squished stupid face are out the door. Surely that means things will get better from here.
