Jordan Love and the Packers Dominate The Cowboys On SNF, And All Of a Sudden a Season That Was Once Dead Has Some Legit Life To It
Kevin Sabitus. Getty Images.Wind back the clock to Week 3, Thursday Night Football against the Falcons. The Packers got rightfully booed off the field of their home opener after getting worked 35-14 by Atlanta. Love once again got hit all night long and the defense was promptly trounced by Bijan. Things were so bad with the offensive line that the season seemed over. How could you fix this on the fly? How could Love make it to Thanksgiving in one piece?
Well the front office got aggressive and brought in reinforcements up front with Laken Tomlinson, Mekhi Becton, and Kevin Zeitler coming in to steady the ship. Since then the Pack have ripped off three in a row, Love with some time has been absolutely firing the ball all over the field, and the defense has awoken. Granted, those three wins came against Tampa, Chicago, and Dallas. Not exactly the Seahawks Super Bowl defense you’re facing there, but things look so much better. Jacob Monk no longer sees the field. Same for Donovan Jennings. Tomlinson is the only one of the three newcomers who have played so far, but Zeitler is absolutely coaching up these dudes in the meantime. I’d love to see him get in there next week against the Lions however.
It’s still not a perfect situation, but it’s working well
enough to at least have an offense. That wasn’t the case against Atlanta.
Points were left off the board tonight though. Green Bay’s top receivers Christian Watson and Matthew Golden let three sure-fire touchdowns slip out of their hands. Love’s statline from the night will read as a lie for what actually happened. He could have easily ended up with 350 yards and three TDs tonight if any of these balls were caught. And I’m taking BAD drops
Stupid shit. Love was great though and yes the drops stunk, but even with that, Golden had a monster game. Turns out drafting receivers in the first round is a good idea. He is a star in the making.

Again, this Cowboys defense is near the bottom of the league. They have talent but boy does it not show up on the field. Even without a run game, Love moved the ball at will on this unit. In the first drive of the game he had 109 passing yards. That sounds impossible.
Outside of Love doing whatever he wanted, the most exciting part of the night came from the defensive side of things. It’s still such a bummer to have Edgerrin Cooper done for the year, but Gannon has these guys flying around. Evan Williams is putting together an All Pro season early on here.
Dak was in hell all night with Pickens and Lamb neutralized. Just think of what it would have looked like if the refs allowed people to hit the quarterback.

Thank god the kids across the country were probably asleep so they weren’t subjected to such violence on their TVs. We had to take this out of the game. Everyone was asking for it.
Good win. Love is playing excellent now that he can breathe (slightly) back there. Defense is really coming along and Micah Parsons will be back hopefully in the next month. A season that once looked completely fucked has some real life again. Detroit next week on the road to really give this run some legitimacy.
As for Dallas? Team feels broken to me. Defense is a mess and Dak isn’t good enough anymore to overcome it. NFC East is begging for someone to step up and they absolutely refuse to do so. Jerry is all in with this team and they’re not close. Could they be a Herbert team in the offseason? Dak is 33 and only a year left on his deal. I’m not a capologist expert but the post Dak plan should be getting talked about.
