"It Didn't Change No Reaction If Anybody Else Would Have Won. That Don't Always Be The Case When The Shoe Was On The Other Foot." - Jaylen Brown Clearly Took Some More Shots At Jayson Tatum While Talking About His Finals MVP

Sigh. Here we go again. The NBA season hasn't even started yet and I feel like this is already my 10,000th Tatum/Brown blog about each guy taking subliminal shots at the other. Trust me, I'm just as tired of writing it as you may be of reading it, but my hands are tied. Personally, the entire thing just makes me sad. It breaks my heart, if we're being honest. From subtle jabs going back and forth to icing each other out while warming up the other night ahead of the preseason game, everything about it sucks.

Sadly, we aren't even close to this whole thing being over. In fact, you could argue we're just getting started. Up next? Jaylen taking some pretty obvious shots at Tatum with how he apparently acted/felt about his Finals MVP

"I think one of my highest moments in just winning a championship. I didn't play to win no award, when they gave me the MVP, they gave me 2 MVPs by the way, just for those, you know what I mean. But when I won, I was never expecting that. I didn't care nothing about that... It mattered way more to some people than it ever mattered to me. So when I won, you could see in my face that I was shocked. Cause it didn't change no reaction if anybody else would have won. But that don't always be the case when the shoe was on the other foot."

Here's the thing. I can understand why Tatum may have felt he earned that Finals MVP. I can also understand how much that award means to him, as he's since talked about how that's high on his list of goals. You're not wrong if you believe he was worthy in 2024 considering this this whole thing in combination with how he defended the bigs in that series which blew up the Mavs offense.

I can also understand why Jaylen was rewarded with the Finals MVP, as he too was awesome during that series. That's ya know, why they won. The Jays were both awesome

And let's not forget, the very first thing Jaylen did when he got the mic was shout out Jayson Tatum and how they did it together. It's understandable why someone might then feel a certain way about the reaction that followed. It's not like Jaylen voted for it, he's just who the media decided. It's not exactly his fault that Tim Bontemps refuses to vote for Tatum for anything, and the truth is both had a legit case for the FMVP. The fact that it clearly caused a rift between the two is sad, because as fans we spent nearly a decade dreaming of the moment where the Jays became champions together. Then it happened, and in reality it was actually the beginning of the end. That sucks.

At the end of the day, the Tatum and Brown duo weren't just one of the greatest duos in Celtics history, they were one of the best duos in NBA history. Sorry if that offends, but it's a fact. No current duo in the NBA has won more games, they're like 2nd or 3rd all time in duos to each score 30 points in the same game, most postseason wins etc. I know there are Jaylen Stans and Tatum Stans that go to war against each other which is exhausting, but at the end of the day, as a Celtic fan, this shit is depressing as hell. Two of the best Celtics to ever do it, two guys who will be in the rafters together forever, it shouldn't be like this, yet here we are.

As you can imagine, this is only going to increase with each Celtics/Sixers game. If they end up facing each other in a playoff series? It's going to get even louder. I suppose in the end, the media finally got what they wanted. Tatum and Brown were split up, and they're now taking shots at one another.

I can't lie, I hate everything about it.
