The Relentless Brewers Sweep The Dodgers Out Of The NLCS And Are Headed To Their First World Series Since 1982

Back at the trade deadline in the first week of August I thought it was a massive mistake for the Brewers to not empty the clip and trade for Tarik Skubal. I thought it was an even bigger mistake to not add any sort of starting pitching at the time. Turns out the Milwaukee Brewers didn't need anyone else. Everyone necessary to go a World Series run was already there in the clubhouse with one goal in mind. Not only are they headed to the World Series, but they just swept the very team who did trade for Skubal out of the NLCS.

It's one of the most impressive series performances I've seen in a long time. They trailed in all four games here and never blinked once. This lineup 1-9 was relentless as can be, working counts like it was involuntary, exhausting pitchers, and stringing together rally after rally until they won the game. The bullpen every night erased momentum anytime the Dodgers threatened. Their fearless leader Pat Murphy constantly kept them locked in, humble, and hungry for more. They were better than the Dodgers all year long and proved it wasn't a fluke here.

Even on a night like tonight they didn't back down. Ohtani finally connects to send the crowd into a frenzy. For the first time all series the Dodgers had life.

Would have been completely understandable to lose this game and try to get them tomorrow. Not that you're punting games in the postseason, but hey maybe it was just LA's night. Nope. There wouldn't be another night to this series.

In less than three innings the Brewers erased that moment. Even though Joe Davis made it seem like the Dodgers had tied the series on that swing, in reality it was just another opportunity for the Brewers to rally, fight back, and break the Dodgers' spirits. In the 6th Garrett Mitchell gave them the lead for good with this bomb.

Romero and Ashby combined to blank the Dodgers over the final five innings, navigating a few tricky situations with big time pitching. This is all the Brewers pen did in these four games, slam the door shut.

As much of a team effort as you'll see. Somebody had to win MVP and that was Jake Bauers, the guy who almost retired two years ago and only continued playing to keep his family's health insurance after his wife became pregnant with their second kid. Funny how things end up working out. There's for sure a team of destiny vibe here and I don't see how either Tampa or Cleveland stop them in the World Series. What don't they do well? Hell, they're even hitting home runs now, something they struggled to do all season, not that it mattered when it came to generating runs.

Hell of a job by Pat Murphy and this whole roster. The Dodgers super team has finally fallen, even with adding guys like Skubal, Edwin Diaz, and Kyle Tucker. The dream of the 3 peat is dead and boy is it beautiful. Karma is a bitch Mark Walter. As Pat Murphy said just before they popped bottles in the Dodgers clubhouse, "they've got a bunch of hall of famers, we've got a bunch of gamers."
