"We Don't Give A Fuck About You, Ain't No Buddy Buddy Shit Going On" - Anthony Edwards Put Out A Warning To The NBA While Dropping A Fantastic Promo Ahead Of The Timberwolves Season

Of all the teams I'm excited to watch this new NBA season, I'd say the new-look Timberwolves are pretty high up there. If there's one thing I respect about their GM Tim Connelly, it's the fact that he's not scared to take a swing. While a lot of GMs in the league try to go the safe route to ensure job security, Connelly is the exact opposite. He gives zero fucks about any of that stuff. He's willing to make the big trade, he's willing to try different combinations of rosters and different styles in an effort to get the Wolves over the hump, which I respect. It may not always work, but he's not afraid to try.

Which brings us to the 2026-27 NBA season and his latest swing, the LaMelo trade. Gone are Julius Randle and Naz Reid, and into the mix is one of the best offensive engines in basketball who also happens to be must-watch TV. For a team that already had one of those players in Anthony Edwards, there are plenty of basketball reasons to be excited to watch this version of the Wolves this season.

There's also this

Listen, credit where credit is due. That's an elite promo for the Wolves season. We should not underestimate this aspect of the LaMelo/Anthony Edwards duo, which is that they have zero PR training. It's refreshing to hear someone talk shit like this and you know what? The league is better for it.

Here's what I also know. When it comes to the Wolves and Anthony Edwards specifically, the talk is starting to get cheap. ,It makes for a fun quote and viral video sure, but now entering Year 7, the fact is the time has come for Ant to actually win at a high level and break through to make his first Finals. When you're talked about the way he is as this supposed top 5 talent, that's the standard. You can't really puff your chest out like this and only rely on your two WCF appearances, especially when you're talked about as being one of the best players in the NBA. Even Luka, who also has this same issue, has made the Finals (and got his ass kicked). Eventually, this level of talent has to break through.

Barring any sort of major injury situation, there's no excuse for this Wolves team to not win 50+ games. The West is weaker, they added an elite offensive talent in LaMelo, they have good young talent, they have elite defenders on both the perimeter and at the rim, and a supposed top-5 player. That's more than enough to contend in the West, so really there's no excuse. Over the last 3 years the Wolves have won 56, 49 and 49 games, so to me somewhere in the 50s and a deep playoff run should be their floor. All I know is you can't be talking like this and then win sub-50 again, finish as the 6th seed and then lose in Round 2. If that happens again, these types of Ant moments just won't hit the same and seeing as how he's wildly entertaining that would be a shame.

But that's the beauty of sports. Talk is cheap once the games start. Once that happens, it's time to come through and execute. There's no denying Tim Connelly took another massive swing with the LaMelo trade, and the Wolves' entire future pretty much depends on it working out not just in the regular season, but more importantly in the postseason. It's either going to be entertaining as hell watching it work, or entertaining as hell watching it all burn down to the ground. I for one, cannot wait to see how it shakes out.

Ant sent out the warning shot, so let's see if he can not back it up.
