'END THE CHAOS!' - Pat Kelsey Took The Stand At An Eligibility Hearing And Absolutely Unloaded On The NCAA For Being A Complete Mess

I don't know how we got to a world where a college basketball coach is on the stand for an eligibility hearing but I hate every bit of it. Now, here's my problem with what Pat Kelsey said. The NCAA came out and said the rule was class of 2022 doesn't get an extra year. Then the coaches and schools who wanted those players, sued. So what exactly do you want the NCAA to do here? They had the rule, people sued and local judges ruled in favor of the schools. And I get it from coaches. Why wouldn't you take advantage of any sort of loophole you can find to get a better team?

On the other hand I agree with Pat Kelsey. The NCAA refusing to be ahead of any sort of shit caused all this chaos. We live in a world where Cal and Stanford are in the ACC. We live in a world where all you have to do is sue the NCAA and get a judge near your school and someone else comes in. The NCAA needs some sort of leadership here - not the government - to say here are our rules. You follow them and you're fine. You break them and you're not playing in the postseason. Every other league can do it, so why can't the NCAA figure something out instead of constantly having to deal with lawsuits.

I just don't know how we got to this point. I'm old enough to remember when guys just went to school, sometimes they transferred and that was it. There was none of this court bullshit. There was no loopholes to find guys who played in the G League that are now eligible. And to be frank, it ain't the same to the European model. Guys who play in Europe don't have high schools they play at. You play for a club. That's not the same. What I do know is if we're doing all this lawsuit shit, the NCAA needs better lawyers than this guy

I get that it sucks for the class of 2022. People got an extra year because of COVID and shit like that. But, welcome to life. Shit sucks sometimes. You catch a bad break. That's how it should be here. Implement the 5-year rule leading into next year so coaches can prepare. It's that simple. End the chaos, goes towards coaches too.
