Forget Dylan Raiola Trying To Copy Mahomes, Brandin Podziemski Has Set His Sights On Morphing Into Steph Curry

Remember the 2003 movie Freaky Friday starring Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis? You know, the one where they woke up one day and discovered that they had somehow switched bodies? A vintage classic for all of us millennials out there.

Well, it's starting to look like we have a similar situation in the NBA as we enter this new season, revolving around Steph Curry and Brandin Podziemski. The initial evidence suggests that we may have an NBA version of Freaky Friday going on after seeing Podz pretty much take Steph Curry's entire persona

I mean, that's Steph Curry! Every single thing about that sequence is Steph. The hair, the walk, the slow approach to the FT line with the mouthguard hanging out, this is Steph's entire flow!

I can't say I'm surprised that Podz would go this route, considering this is how he was talking this time last year

How do you become better than Steph Curry? Easy, you first have to become Steph Curry. That's Day 1 stuff. Unfortunately for Podz, there's a slight issue. You can mimic Steph's mannerisms all you want, you can also fuck around with your mouthguard, maybe even throw it at the scorer's table like Steph if you're really committed to the bit, that's all fine. The problem, is the whole God-given talent thing. That, you can't imitate. So unless there truly is a Freaky Friday situation at play here and Steph has now taken over Podz's body, I'm not sure that's going to be possible.

It reminds me a lot of the whole Dylan Raiola/Patrick Mahomes situation, where he basically had the same gimmick

which I think we can all agree didn't exactly work out. That's the thing about trying to imitate and cosplay as one of the greats. It has a 99.9% failure rate, and then you just look dumb trying to do it.

The more I think about it, are we sure the Warriors aren't up to anything suspicious in terms of new-age cloning or anything along those lines? They are in the Bay after all, where I imagine there are all sorts of new technological and scientific developments happening. Is it possible that because the Warriors know Steph's on the final few holes of his career and their franchise is fucked once he leaves, that they are experimenting with ways to keep Steph in the organization? Is it possible this is less of a Freaky Friday situation and more of a Captain America (first movie) situation, with Podz being the player to sacrifice his body for the experiment? I'm not ready to put that past Joe Lacob. He's rich as hell, and I'm pretty sure there's nothing in the CBA that prevents cloning, so did they somehow find a loophole? We may need Pablo Torre to step in and get to the bottom of what's going on here.
