Darius Alexander 'Accidentally' Stepping On The Ball To Delay The Commanders Even More Was The Smartest Play We'll See In The NFL This Year
This is how you save a game. Well, at least this is how you play for a tie. The Commanders did a bunch of dumb shit, sure.
Look at Darius Alexander though. We see guys try to accomplish this during games each week but usually fail. The old Giants get a penalty and then the Commanders nail a short field goal. Not now! Not with guys like Darius Alexander making plays like this. Forget the Jameis experience or anything else. Stepping on a ball to delay the Commanders even more is a Harbaugh tie.
I have no choice but to chalk this up as the smartest play of the weekend. I'd say best, but I also saw Kenny Minchey run for a 2-point conversion to beat LSU. That wasn't getting topped. This is just the smartest play you'll see. Let the Commanders do dumb shit, find that one little spot to delay another second and get out of there with a tie. No one summed up the tie better than Coach Harbaugh
All I know is we're still on top of the NFC East. That's what a tie does to you. You look at the positives despite feeling like that game was a loss then a win then a loss again. I have no choice but to applaud Darius Alexander. It's another step in the right direction. Like I said, a year ago he trips on the ball, probably gets injured, for sure gets a 15-yard penalty and we lose. Not now. Now we pull off a tie.
