Sports Are Awful And Everything Sucks

On September 20th, the Philadelphia Eagles went to Nashville, Tennessee and barely squeaked out a 24-20 win. Realistically it was a pretty terrible game, but Jalen Hurts led the team down the field and found Darius Cooper in the endzone with just under 10 seconds to go in the game for the win.

The Eagles were 2-0. It wasn't a pretty 2-0, but they were 2-0.

The Flyers seasons hadn't started yet, but everyone was excited about this team taking that next step after finally making the playoffs again last year. For the first time in a long time, people in this city were actually excited about the Flyers season starting up.

The Phillies were in a bit of a tailspin to close out the regular season. But postseason baseball was right around the corner even if this team managed to wait until the very last game to clinch their spot in the wild card.

That was September 20th. It feels like a goddamn lifetime ago. Since September 20th, the Phillies went 3-6 and their season came to an unceremonious end in game 3 of the Wild Card against Atlanta. Yet another season where the Phillies finished worse than the year before. The window is slammed shut for this team, and the reality that 2022 was the best it'll ever get for this group has finally set in.

The Eagles have now lost 3 straight. They played like complete and total shit in Chicago for Monday night football in a game where truly every facet of the game was terrible. They blew a late 4th quarter double-digit lead after the dipshit head coach refused to take the points and allowed the Rams to hang in just long enough to deliver the dagger with a minute left to play. And then we had yesterday's debacle in London.

The coach is a dunce. Half the team is injured. Lane Johnson retired in the middle of the week. It's looking like the Eagles are in for a long, dark, torturous year of hell.

And then we get to the piece of shit Flyers. Like I said, people were actually excited about the Flyers season starting up again this year. And then…well then they got their dicks kicked in 7-0 by the Penguins at home in the season opener, and nobody gave a shit about this team anymore. And if anyone was planning on sticking around after that horrific opener just in case it was a fluke? Well they have now started off the season winless in their first 7 games. They have started the season 0-5-2, and have scored a grand total of 8 goals in those 7 games.

This team is a fucking joke.

At this point, the whole damn city has become a joke.

Over 3 full weeks at this point and we've seen a Phillies era completely come to an end, the Eagles lose 3 straight games, and the Flyers lose 7 in a row. I know Penn State isn't technically a "Philly team", but it's obviously big time Penn State territory here. They've lost 3 in a row. Temple football has gone 1-4 in their last 5. Everything is awful.

And, sure, the Eagles have won 2 Super Bowls in the last 10 years. They've been to 3, and the Phillies have played for a World Series in that time. I get that's the point of all of this. It makes those moments even better when you have to through stretches of hell to get there. But also…what's the point? What are we even doing to ourselves here? There just has to be a better way. Everybody wants to shit on bandwagon fans but I'll tell ya what--they have it figured out. When the team sucks, just tune out and you don't have to endure this mess. Go find something better to do with your time instead of wasting it on a bunch of lifeless losers. The Flyers still have 77 more games to play this year. That's like 230-240 hours of your life you can either be miserable for while watching this team, or actually enjoy if you forget they exist. The Eagles season is over. They aren't winning a Super Bowl this year because Nick Sirianni doesn't have a great offensive coordinator to take him back there.

The next 5 years of Phillies baseball are about to get painfully ugly.

And then there is LeBron James and the Philadelphia 76ers. There is so much riding on the Sixers right now, and that terrifies me. A team that hasn't made it out of the 2nd round of the playoffs for over 20 years at this point is now tasked with having the entire city relying on them to save us from this misery. They have the roster to do it, but that's something you can't fully put your faith into until you actually see it happen.

I don't know, man. It can't stay this way forever, right? Right??
