Nic Cage CONFIRMED To Star In Next ‘True Detective' But Said He’ll Only Come Back For 'National Treasure 3' If Ben Gates Finds The Epstein Files? Also Refused To Sign An AI Waiver For ‘Spider-Noir’? KING.
My dear friends, Sir Nic Cage just had himself a HELLUVA weekend inside the hallowed halls of NYC's Comic Con. Not only revealing secret news about his next big TV role, but also dropping a few other gems about future franchises too. You don't even have to be a Cage Head like me to want Ben Gates back to finish the trilogy. Admit it. They're fun for the whole family!
Regardless, I'm just thankful this breaking news from NYCC means we're still firmly inside the ongoing Cageaissance. For all I know, he hasn't even begun to peak. For the sake of the world, let's hope that's the case. We need his selfless art now more than ever.
Giphy Images. And if anyone can bring 'True Detective' back to its elite form from S1, who better than the ultimate maniac artist? I certainly won't say no to him playing both detectives either. But I'd settle for John Travolta or Chuck Sheen in the other saddle as well. Time is a flat circle.

Feed the family; don’t do too many movies back to back to back. So I think I’m probably gonna do another season of television. I think I might do a season of True Detective.” He immediately added to the applauding fans, “That’s okay that I’m the first to announce that, right?
Rumors of Cage’s casting have been circulating since last August, with his season being set in the Jamaica Bay area of New York City, according to Variety, although the Spider-Noir star revealed earlier this year that he had “no idea” what the status of the new season was. “I think they’re working on the material, but I haven’t heard about it in quite some time,” he told Variety in May. “I’m not signed on to anything; we’re just talking. I like Issa López a lot, and would be thrilled to work with her, but nothing is concrete. And I’ve never seen the first season of True Detective, but I’ve heard great things.”

Fingers crossed that season ends up getting made with him, especially since we won't be getting any more of the now canceled 'Spider-Noir' on Amazon. Too bad. Thought that was a pretty fun 1930s slow burn dick (detective) romp. Didn't need to be a comic nerd to enjoy it. A+ aesthetics & visuals. Ah well.
Giphy Images. But big respect to Nic for making an early stand against AI performances & the slippery slope Hollywood is starting to enter. Inspiring to see him remain as authentic as it gets. Even if that means he has to invest in a much smaller number of medieval castles moving forward. Such a standup guy. You'll never find him making a movie just to cash a measly paycheck. He fucking cares about the ethics of his work. Salute to integrity.
“Amazon is a very AI-friendly company, to the tune of $50 billion invested in OpenAI,” Cage said at #NYCC. “I am not an AI-friendly actor, so it’s like, connect those dots! I’m not a member of their club. I didn’t sign the waiver to let him use AI on ‘Spider Noir.’ I’m probably not going to be working with that studio again, but that’s okay.”
Even more inspiring to see Nic push back against Amazon's AI efforts considering he has a movie coming out with them next month. Guess we can safely assume that 'Madden' check has CLEARED. Great work Mr. Cage! Maybe those other castle investments are back on? I fuckin' hope so too dude.

HOWEVA, the biggest news from Comic Con was his soundbite about possibly returning for 'National Treasure 3'. That's been a movie constantly thrown around in rumor mills the past few years without any concrete evidence of actually existing. Until last month when director Jon Turteltaub said it's definitely on the way WITH Nic involved… Only to be retorted by the man himself onstage yesterday. What a mic drop of a quote.
"I have not said anything before this, but you deserve to have the scoop. It’s finally real. Now, it’s Hollywood real, meaning things could happen. Nic gets hit by a bus, there’s no National Treasure 3. If I get hit by a bus, there’s probably a National Treasure 3. Welcome to Hollywood."

Once again I must say, hopefully that #content gets made. Would be absolute Mt. Vesuvius fire flames if it does. Can't imagine The Mouse would be willing to put a sordid tale like that together though. Regardless, that is most definitely A CLUE. Decipher away in the comments.
But hey, it's not like Nic needs NT3 to further his legacy into another echelon. He's been at the mountain top for years. BACK. Not that he ever left. He's lived 1000 lives on the silver screen for us. So I'll be content with whatever he chooses to do next making #content. Don't forget, that is OSCAR WINNER, Nicolas Cage to you. And I swear I'm NOT giving him all this high praise solely because he just stared into my eyes and said "Thanks for watching. Be well." He's earned it all on his own!
Although admittedly… That was a pretty cool moment in time just now. How in the name of Zeus' butthole did I get so lucky in the anals of history? So thank YOU Nic, my dear 'Con-Air' compadre. Here's to many more years of dementia with you on this spinning ball of dirt. Also goes without saying but, we could eat a peach for hours. Have a great weekend.
