'That's Ultra Disrespectful' - Don't You Dare Ask Lions DC Kelvin Sheppard About The Perception That The Offense Needs To Carry The Worst Defense In The NFL

I get you want to stick up for your guys, but that's not disrespectful. The Lions defense is trash and that's putting it kindly. They are dead last in yards per game. They are 31st (by .2) in points per game allowed. Their biggest compliment is they are 20th in rushing yards per game. That's a step in the right direction! 

But it's not disrespectful to be asked about the perception the offense has to carry the team. That's been the Lions for a few years now. They are awesome offensively and you basically just hope the defense holds teams to like 24 or under. I mean at some point, you have to take some blame while also backing your guys. They are the opposite Vikings. Everyone knows the Vikings defense has carried them to 4-0. It happens with teams. It's not great, but it's the truth.

Not to mention, Lions fans are starting to get pissed. I think it's clicking that Dan Campbell was right when they lost in the NFC Championship game. That was their chance. 

We see it all the time in sports. I think about when the Thunder lost to the Heat in the NBA Finals with Durant, Harden, Westbrook and that group. Everyone thought they'd be back. They have the young core. Well, we know what happened there. The Lions had guys on rookie contracts. They had a little more balance. It broke for them and they didn't win. I still think the Lions are good, but I don't know if I just get lost on offense. That defense has been so, bad. 

Obviously a long way to go in the season, but you better back it up now. You can't say you're going to do your part if the defense keeps sucking. Again, it's not disrespectful. It's just the truth.
