Padres Are Back – Blink-182's Tom DeLonge Led Petco Park in All The Small Things Last Night, And As Always, It Rocked
The Padres are in trouble. Down 2-0. Back against the wall. Days removed from a devastating Milwaukee Brewers roof incident. Time to call up Tom DeLonge in his cleanest, flattest, Padres flat bill and push the Blink-182 button. Push it every night until your fingers bleed.
All the Small Things by Blink-182 might have a higher approval rating than the National Anthem. I actually wouldn't be opposed to making the switch. The Star-Spangled Banner has had a great run. Time for something a little more modern. Something Americans of all ages can really rock out to.
And who better to sing our country's National Anthem than a man who's not only the lead singer and guitarist of the beloved rock band Blink-182, but is also deeply obsessed with aliens.
Tom DeLonge – writer of the new United States' National Anthem, discoverer of aliens. That's as American as it gets. I would like to try whatever drugs Blink-182 has.
Until then, All The Small Things will have to settle for being the San Diegan anthem. It does a pretty good job of that. It's been crushing at Padres games for years.

The San Diego Padres really ended up with one of the best crowds in baseball. I suppose nothing gets fans to rally around a team more than another team (San Diego Chargers) skipping town. The Padres are all they have left. Even their college football team is all out with the mumps.
It also helps that the weather in San Diego is perfect all summer long, they have one of the most fun rosters in baseball, and they have the whole "little brother" to the Los Angeles Dodgers thing to rally around. Every year come playoff time I think to myself, "Damn, the Padres are kinda cool. I wouldn't mind seeing them win one."
They never do, but maybe this is their year. I doubt it, but Tom DeLonge and All The Small Things helped make it a series again last night. Tonight they have a chance to tie things up at home. Petco Park will literally be rockin'.
