I Picked the Worst Team in the Sport Two Years Before They Got Good—You Don’t Get to Call Me a Bandwagon
Well well well…. What do you know?
The White Sox start winning some baseball games and all of a sudden I’m a “bandwagon.” Interesting. Because when I picked them to be my one Chicago team two years ago no one said a word when they were losing 100+ games a year.
In fact I was being trolled, called an idiot, and heard endless “why would you not pick the Cubs?” But now that they’re winning all of a sudden I’m a bandwagon, HA! You can suck my white ass. There’s no such thing as bandwagoning the worst team in the entire fucking sport. I could have easily went the Cubs route like every other transplant that has ever moved here. I could have easily said “I love Wrigley, so I’m a Cubs fan” like every smoke show that lives in Chicago and claims to be a Cubs fan, but I didn’t.
Instead I picked the worst team in all of baseball and now after two years of hearing crickets the bandwagon allegations are being thrown around. Well in this country you are innocent until proven guilty and I am not guilty on all charges of being a bandwagon.
Yes, I grew up in South Florida, yes my three favorite sports teams are the Dolphins, Heat, and Panthers. But never in my life have I been a Marlins fan. I was never a baseball guy and I definitely was never a Marlins fan. If I came to Barstool decked out in Marlins gear and jumped ship, sure, but I can confidently say that I’ve never once spent my own money on Marlins gear. I never cared for the sport and I never cared for the team which is why when I moved to Chicago I said I want one Chicago team and the only sport where I didn’t have an allegiance was baseball. And even then, I could have went with the Cubs, but I didn’t.
I took the hard route. And I’m not saying I bleed Black and White but I have never once wore a single piece of Cubs gear, EVER! And one of my best friends grandpa is Billy Williams! AND I STILL CHOSE THE SOX.
You can say whatever you want about me but you can NOT call me a bandwagon for picking a team 2 years ago, watch them lose 100 games back to back years, and now that they’re winning, celebrating the wins. You simply can’t.
