"I Had 83 On A Bad Shooting Night…I Would’ve Passed Wilt" - Bam Adebayo Continues To Be An Elite Troll When It Comes To His 83 Point Night

Getty Images.I know there are some who hate the fact that Bam Adebayo scored 83 points and passed Kobe for the second most points scored in NBA history, but I am not one of those people. I love it. I find it extremely funny that Bam Adebayo of all players was the guy to jump in front of Kobe. I love how mad it makes people. I love how Bam trolls opposing fanbases with it. I love that 25 years from now it'll be a great bar trivia question. I get why some may think it's a disgrace to the game of basketball, but that's also why I love it.
Given the times we're in, when I saw that video come across my timeline, the way it was filmed make me think it was possibly AI. You just can't blindly trust everything you see on the internet these days, and hearing Bam say he had 83 on a off night and would have passed Wilt made me wildly suspicious. After some research (like 3 more clicks) it appears to be real, which is very funny. I think that's probably the most open Bam's been about the 83 point night, and it's definitely the most I've ever heard him talk about it. Now, would I call it a bad shooting night? Maybe for some players, but Bam finished 20-43 (7-22) which is good for 46.5/31.3% splits. He was 13/21 (61%) from inside the arc and then went 36-43 (83%) from the line.
When it comes to the 7-22 (31%) from deep, I wouldn't call that a bad shooting night for Bam. I would call that shooting his average. On the season last year, Bam shot 31.8% from deep on a career high 5.5 3PA.
So overall, I wouldn't say Bam's 83 came on a bad shooting night, at least for him. A 7-22 performance would be bad if it came from a better 3P shooter, but that's pretty much what you expected from Bam during that season.
Either way, the Wizards are really the ones to blame here. They're the ones who were complicit in making this whole thing actually happen. As Bub Carrington told us earlier, it was all part of their plan
so I'm with Bam in that regard. What do you expect him to do? It's not his job to stop dominating, it's your job to do something about it. We all know he's most likely never coming close to touching that number again, but that's another reason why I love that he's the player who scored 83. It's all so ridiculous and doesn't make a lick of sense, yet here we are. How many players are you picking before Bam if you were asked to name the player who would pass Kobe? Is he in the top 50?
But that's the beauty of the NBA. You tune in every night and there's a strong chance you're about to see some shit you'd never in a million years think would be possible. Sometimes that means Bam Adebayo goes out and drops 83
