Red Sox Outfielder Roman Anthony Is Officially Out For For The Rest Of Playoff Series With The Yankees Thanks To A New Injury In His Wrist After Missing Four Months With A Finger Injury

Brutal brutal brutal. 

Chad Tracy confirmed the worst-case scenario for Roman Anthony. After leaving Tuesday's Game 1 loss to the Yankees, tests revealed new muscle strains in his hand that will knock him out of the Wild Card series with New York. MLB rules state that if you leave a series due to injury, you're out for the next series, too. 

Not that it sounds like he'll come back this year as-is. 

Obviously, losing him in this series is a killer. Bigger picture: a NEW hand injury? 

On another check swing? 

Different than the one that knocked him out for four months?

For a guy who needs to swing hard? 

And it's enough to knock him out of a do-or-die game against the Yankees?

The weirdest part of the Roman stuff from last night is that the Red Sox drove him back to Boston last night so he could get an MRI at 8 AM in Boston, and now he's on his way back to Boston. No MRI machines in New York? Huh? 

It will be the Red Sox Lefty Killer Jahmai Jones in the lineup and leading off against Max Fried. Feels a lot like Rob Refsnyder leading off last year in the playoffs. The immortal Nate Eaton plays left and bats 9th. 

The Sox will try to add a new bat to the roster. But whoever they add will not be as good as Roman Anthony when he's at his best.
