No Choice But To Declare That US Soccer Has A New Golden Generation After Guys Made History vs Chile And Got Into A Bench-Clearing Scrap

I know it's just a friendly. I know people don't want to hear Golden Generation. I disagree on both. I disagree because declaring that US Soccer has a Golden Generation is awesome. It gives me hope. In fact, this is for sure a young core. I say that because of three main guys: 

Mathis Albert, Cavan Sullivan and Julian Hall. 

All are either 17-18 years old and we got some history with them. Now, we're coming off the 4-1 win over Peru on college football Saturday - something we gotta stop doing. No more soccer games on college football Saturday, like Mexico this week. Back to yesterday. It wasn't our normal starting XI, but it's what Pochettino should be doing in this window. Get some young gus out there, see what we have and it's paying off. 

It's paying off because we're starting to see some leaps. By that I mean I'm about to say something I never thought I would. Sebastian Berhalter is legit. The dude is on fire, scoring again: 

Credit to me from moving on from being anti-Berhalter anything. Sebastian is doing everything right these days. He's elite on set pieces. He's scoring bangers but look at that play again. We never could do that shit. We never had a guy like Dest make the run, Julian Hall (18) with the dummy and a finish. It's clinical, it's what we've been screaming for. 

It wasn't pretty yesterday because we went with a lot of inexperience combined with Dest, Antonee Robinson, Gio Reyna and Sebastian Berhalter in the starting XI. Miles Robinson too, if you want to count that, but yuck. Just like with Sebastian Berhalter, Gio Reyna is becoming Gio Reyna again. Back-to-back games with an assist: 

And that's Julian Hall with the goal. His second in this window. I mean it's perfect. He's 18 years old, making plays like that and even in the postgame press conference sounds like a pro. Then you get the Chris Richards goal:

It was a perfect night. Honor Tim Ream, get some experience, learn to play from behind and get into some scraps because Chile is a dirty ass team. 

And then even Cavan Sullivan checked in with 10 minutes to go and made this sort of run

It's a true young core. We're doing this without McKennie, Balogun, Pepi, Pulisic and still figuring out a goalie. It's something to give us hope. Look, I know people will scoff at it all, but ending a game with two 17-year old out there and looking the part is something we've never had before. We've had one person in the young core. We've had 1 Pulisic, 1 Freddy Adu, 1 Jozy Altidore. Now we have a bunch of them. 

I'd like to see us on Saturday start our best XI and beat Mexico. I know Poch is messing around with stuff and seeing what we have. Need the young core on Saturday to show up.
