You Have Never Heard Disgust Like These Georgia High School Football Announcers After One of the Most Inexplicable Play Calls in Football History

Man, there's nothing better than this. You get hometown flavor on college radio broadcasts and home team broadcasts in pro sports, but there is nothing like listening to two guys who care about Dalton High School football like it's the NFL witness a coach decide to run the ball with nine seconds left and no timeouts from the 10-yard line in a tied game.

And in fairness to them, I can only imagine what I'd say if I watched a team I care about do this. Those guys deserve a great deal of credit for keeping any expletives off the air, though the pure bewilderment of their North Georgia mountain accents mixed with stunned silence paints a more beautiful picture than any foul language could.

Dalton — carpet capital of the world, by the way — was 4-0 and needed just a chip shot field goal to remain undefeated. If you run any play at all there with nine seconds left, it has to be a pass and unless someone is wide open, throw it 20 yards out of the end zone and kick. I have no idea what the thinking was here unless it was just a terrible miscommunication.

Cedartown went on to win 43-41 in double overtime.

If it's any consolation to the Dalton radio team, they gave us a tremendous clip from their tragedy. And at the end of the day, isn't that what it's all about?
