It's Finally Official - For A Second Straight Season It Will Be The Red Sox Against The Yankees In a Best-of-Three Wild Card Series In The Bronx

Buckle up. 

In a matchup that has felt like a certainty for weeks, it will be the Red Sox and Yankees in a best-of-three Wild Card matchup in New York. 

Last season, it took until Game 160 for the Red Sox to qualify for the playoffs. This season, Game 160 locked in the Red Sox and Yankees for sure. 

The two teams played a tight 13-game series this season, with the Yankees winning 7-6. 

That included Willson Contreras trying to fight the Yankees' bench as the Sox started their huge run back into contention.

These two teams do not like each other. These two fan bases REALLY don't like it other. 

It got ramped up last year when Cam Schlittler - Yankees Ace and a Boston guy - decided to troll Red Sox fans like my friend Lucy Burdge after the Yankees beat the Sox. For no reason. 

He added to that when he decided to shit on Red Sox fans back in July, when Red Sox / Yankees seemed improbable. Guy claims to igonore Sox fans but he hears EVERYTHING. 

But here we are. 

Roman Anthony missed last year's playoff series with an injury. On Friday afternoon, he went 3 for 3, with three runs scored and a walk. The Sox offense is comically better with Roman leading off.

Is Willson going to play? Is Aaron Judge going to play? Is Garrett going to pitch? 

No clue. We have a few days to figure that out. But it won't matter as far as the intensity of the Red Sox / Yankees next week. It will be electric.

But this time, with Roman Anthony and Payton Tolle. Some people wanted to tank for the 6-seed. Not me. Bring on the Yankees.
