A Crazy Nor'easter Is Bringing Wild Weather To New England So The Red Sox and Cubs Will Play Game 162 Sunday At The Trop

The Trop sucks. No one wants to play at the Trop. But apparently the Red Sox and Cubs had no choice. 

With washout conditions about to settle in over Boston for the next 60 hours, both teams are headed to Tampa to play Game 162. 

It sucks for fans who had tickets for Saturday at Fenway. I was one of them; I get it.

Yep. My kids - who play hours and hours and hours and hours of MLB The Show per week - have talked about seeing PCA for since we got the tickets. That will have to wait since Dad does not have a private plane to take the family to Florida

For the Cubs, Sunday could mean a lot. 

They've clinched a playoff spot, but they could still end up as the #5 or the #6 seed. Baseball likes having all the Game 162s at the same time (3:05 ET) if they mean something, hoping to create some drama. 

There is no drama for the Red Sox? They're already locked into the  AL's #5 seed. They know they're headed to New York on Tuesday to face the Yankees. Off day on Saturday, meaningless game on Sunday, then fly to New York. Not that bad, to be honest. It could have been a lot worse - they might have had to play Monday in Boston before opening the playoffs on Tuesday on the road. 

The Trop is a terrible place to hold an important baseball game, because of shitty plays like these. Hopefully we don't have some dumb catwalk or overhang impact the Cubs' seeding. 

If the Red Sox could just forfeit the game, I bet they would. Means nothing, and all of a sudden they have a shit ton of injuries piling up. 

As for who is going to this game, the cheapest ticket on the MLB site is $43. A few of the sections have single seats, so people will be there. Looks like you can't buy the sections behind home plate? Wierd. Also, is the upper deck closed? This says yes? I'm interested in what the crowd looks like. 

The Red Sox Spring Training site is in Florida, and there are plenty of Boston transplants down there. I expect a very pro-Sox crowd, even with nothing to play for. 

Tampa. 

New York. 

Then, if things go well, back to Tampa for the ALDS against the Rays. When, again, those dumb catwalks could have an impact. Awesome. 

Yep. The Red Sox are headed back to the postseason, but not before some wacky travel to wrap up the season.
