Michael Penix Came Back and May Have Turned the Falcons Into a Wagon

What did we just watch? The Atlanta Falcons, who produced more turnovers (5) than points (3) last week, had Michael Penix finally decide he was ready to play football and he took the boys into Lambeau Field and bent the Packers over a barrel. There was no way things could be any worse than they were with Cooper Rush and Jack Strand, but I wasn't expecting Bijan Robinson and Drake London to turn into Marshall Faulk and Isaac Bruce, either.

It turns out when you have those guys, though, even just a remotely competent quarterback will do the job more often than not. And Penix even spotted the Packers one when he did his best Strand impression and threw a pick on his first drive.

But it didn't matter. I am declaring the Falcons 1-0 in the 2026 season. This is why we need a playoff committee in the NFL. We had guys off the street playing quarterback for the first two weeks; obviously those games should not count. The season started when Mike Penix went into Green Bay and put belt to ass.

And shoutout to Bijan, man. That guy is so awesome.

This team will get its two best defenders back by the middle of the season, too. Now we can all thank the NFL for its foresight to give the Falcons national TV games the next two weeks, as well. How blessed are we?
