A Documentary About The Making Of "Goodfellas" Comes Out Next Month And It Looks Pretty Fucking Good
First off, I'd like to apologize if this documentary has been known about for a while and has been properly hyped up by the internet. But I didn't have a clue it existed until YouTube's algorithm surprisingly plopped it on my home page like those two wise guys plopped a bullet in Tommy's unsuspecting brain in that New York basement once upon a time.
Giphy Images.Too soon? Too soon. Sorry.
Regardless, holy shit I am excited for this doc. It looks like we got old footage, new interviews, and deep dives into all sorts of stories about an all-time great flick. The two things I hoped we'd get some sort of discussion about was the iconic Copacabana scene because it may be on my Mount Rushmore of movie scenes and the painting that Tommy's mom made because I loved hearing Martin Scorsese talk about having his mom in Goodfellas during the Mr. Scorsese five-part documentary about his entire life. So needless to say, seeing both of those highlighted in the trailer got me even more turned on than Karen after Henry beat the fuck out of that cocksucker neighbor of hers across the street.
Speaking of Henry, it's a damn shame that Ray Liotta wasn't around the discuss such an iconic role. But I guess that's the trade offs you have to make when making a doc about a movie that is more than 35 years old and at least they have the real Henry Hill so you can hear exactly what happened, as long as you believe a word that comes out of that rat fuck's mouth (I'm kinda just kidding about that last part since he's a bad guy. But he also got a lot of bad guys off the streets, which I guess is a good thing. Which is why I enjoy watching a fictional account of a real story since I can just turn my brain off and enjoy the art).
