William Shatner's Metal Set At Riot Fest Is One Of The Most Bizarre Things I've Ever Seen
Earlier this year, I blogged about William Shatner releasing his first ever "heavy metal" album deep into his nineties....
Over seven months later, the album, entitled: 'What The F Is Heavy Metal?', is still not out - and I haven't been able to even find a release date for it online....but I don't think it's a prank or April Fools Joke, as previously suspected. Shatner did a set at Riot Fest in Chicago this weekend where he gave a taste of what the album may sound like, and it was BIZARRE.
I mean, ol' Captain Kirk is 95 years old and I don't expect him to start belting out tunes like a prime Ozzy Osbourne, but he's just talking these songs (not singing them) in a voice that sounds more like Adam West than Lemmy Kilmister....
Again, I don't know what I expected - but it wasn't this. What a strange side-quest for a former titan of Hollywood. I'm happy for him if he's enjoying this, but I'd love to know what his band (and even his friends/family) are thinking during these performances. They just have to be so confused.
P.S. Going from Star Trek to Star Wars, how funny is this George Lucas clip?
