The OFFICIAL Big Cat Bears Season Preview
I think everyone would sign up for this season right now. Offense takes a step. Defense hopefully can hold their own. Double digit wins and back in the playoffs. That's the hope. The problem is that on paper it looks like in order for the Bears to do that we will need a MVP type season from Caleb Williams and a coach of the year effort from Ben Johnson. Ben Johnson said in the offseason that he wants to have the highest scoring offense in the history of the game. Want and need are two different things. Right now it feels like the Bears might NEED it.
Nothing like riding the momentum from last year into the hardest schedule in the league.
Just no soft stretches for the entire season and that final four games is going to be an absolute GAUNTLET when fighting for a playoff spot.
I think Big Cat nailed it. This might be the year before the year for the Bears. The offense and Caleb Williams take strides towards becoming a truly elite unit and the defense gets rebuilt next offseason. Poles hasn't really invested much draft capital on the defense and when he has it's been largely a disappointing return. That needs to be fixed before the Bears can truly be a Super Bowl contender. Back to Back playoff berths doesn't really happen in Chicago. The pattern has been one great year out of nowhere and then bottom out quickly before finding a new coach, QB, and GM. I don't think that is the case now. It feels like the project is still on the rails and if the Bears manage 10 wins like Big Cat is saying then playoffs again is a major accomplishment before overhauling the other side of the ball
