Move Over Demolition Derby, The "King Of The Hill" Trailer Race in Hudson, New Hampshire is The Most Electric Thing in White Trash Sports

With all due respect to poor white people... demolition derby's stink out loud. The cars are all old and beat up. They can't even reach speeds fast enough to make for exciting collisions. They always come down to a couple  cars who's engines are holding on by a thread, sputtering around the track at 5 MPH, just waiting each other out until one of them craps out for good. I've been to a few demolition derby's in my life (shoutout Wood County Fair), and not one of them has had a satisfying ending. A demolition derby is never as entertaining as the name "Demolition Derby" suggests.

But the Labor Day King of the Hill Trailer Race at the Hudson Speedway... now THAT'S entertainment. Anybody in this country who's planning on hosting a demolition derby should pivot to a trailer race immediately. A trailer race is an event worth watching. The cars actually have to drive fast. It's exciting from start to finish. The whole thing is over in about 10 minutes (full race in YouTube video below).

Fans get to see real crashes. They see cars rolling over. But most importantly, the whole event is centered around an idea that any person who has ever driven a car has had before – "I wonder if I could drive up on that trailer?"

It's so inviting. A perfectly car sized ramp just sitting there for the... driving up onto it. We've all wanted to try it. It's the most tempting thing in the world. Now, for the first time (that I can remember), I'm actually seeing people give it a go. And as it turns out, it's extremely doable. It's not easy. It's not impossible. It's the perfect level of difficulty to sell out a small speedway in Hudson, New Hampshire.

County fairs around the United States take notes. Demolition derby's stink. They're as boring as professional baseball. But trailer races... trailer races are the Savannah Fucking Bananas.
