The Dumbest Of Times: Trey Kaufman-Renn (Drafted This Year) Sued To Play A 6th Year Of College Hoops Because He Can 'Make Substantially More'

Another day, another reminder that college sports are so fucking stupid right now. Trey Kaufman-Renn sued to play a 6th year of college basketball. Yeah, he had a redshirt year and then played 4 more after that. Now, I'm not necessarily a math guy but I do know that having 5 years to play 4 years is the most you should be able to have. I do know that if you get drafted and then try to come back for more money over lawsuits and I fucking hate you. I hate everything about it.

I'm not saying don't get your money. You had 5 years to get your money. You were around for NIL. You played the max you could at Purdue and now you're coming back, transferring and going through another lawsuit to play the next year. I just don't get it. The dream is always to make the pros. That's what you live your whole life for. It's what every person who plays the very beginning of sports dreams about. You were drafted. You heard your name called on national TV to be in the NBA. The fuck you doing trying to come back?

I'm all for these guys getting paid whatever they can make in college. Not my money, not my problem. If someone wants to give you $5 million to play college hoops, go ahead. My problem is guys who clearly are done playing college hoops, declaring for the pros or running out of eligibility suing to come back. I'm so goddamn sick of hearing about judges and lawyers and TRO's. I'm a blogger, I shouldn't know what a TRO means for college sports.

I just want some common sense in college sports again. NIL, fine, like I said. Transfer portal? You get one free transfer unless you graduate and/or your coach leaves. Other than that, back to sitting out a year. You get 5 years and then you leave. Problem solved.
