Jaylen Brown Is Fully Embracing Philly Culture By Going Full "Rocky" And Made His Boxing Debut In Nigeria
If I had to guess, Jaylen Brown probably decided to binge all the Rocky movies once he got traded to the Sixers. He needed to find out about his new hometown, and what represents Philly better than Rocky? Chances are he kept going and dipped into the Creed franchise as well.
One thing about those movies is that they make you want to get in the ring as soon as you're done watching. It doesn't matter if you know you'd get your ass kicked or not. Watching those training montages is more effective than any preworkout on the market. You want to get out there and feel what it's like to be standing in the middle of that ring.
So here comes Jaylen Brown just a couple months after getting traded to Philly, and he's already making his boxing debut. Do I necessarily love the idea of Jaylen Brown picking up some random boxing match in Nigeria just a month before the start of the season? Of course not. He's skydiving, he's surfing, he's boxing. Anyone who has been around the Sixers organization long enough knows that guys here end up with career altering injuries just from getting out of bed. Even if the guy he was fighting looks like nothing more than an Amazon driver, we still don't need that risk in our lives.
But maybe that's just what makes Jaylen Brown so special. The man doesn't give a shit. He's going to do what he wants to do, because he can do it. If one day he wants to box in Nigeria, then he's going to box in Nigeria. If one day he wants to win an NBA Finals MVP, then he's going to go win an NBA Finals MVP.
And now the Sixers clearly have their enforcer. Guys like LeBron, Embiid, Maxey and Edgecombe can all just focus on hooping. If teams start to get a little too big for their britches out there, Jaylen Brown is there to beat the everliving piss out of them. He's from Philly and he fights.
