It's Over: JJ McCarthy Is Officially The Vikings QB3 Because Kevin O'Connell Claims 'It Gives Us The Best Chance To Win This Sunday'

Look, it's one thing to lose the QB1 battle to Kyler Murray. It's another thing to lose a second quarterback battle and have your coach, a guy who people scream is a QB whisperer, claim it gives your team the best chance to win. Not only that, you have to battle for a backup spot every single week. It's not like O'Connell said McCarthy is banged up, we want him healthy and when he is he's QB2. No, it's he's QB3 and has a chance to be QB2, maybe, who knows.

Now, I'm not dumb enough to say his career is over when I just saw Sam Darnold win a Super Bowl and Baker Mayfield get this monster contract and Geno Smith is somehow still a starting quarterback. But, he's done with the Vikings. You can't keep him around much longer. Sorry, Grier. I'm not even an anti-JJ (formerly Nine) guy. I just call it as it is. He hasn't been good in the pros. He hasn't been healthy. Sometimes you miss out and need a second stop. I'll call his career done if he fails at a second stop. It's why I believe in Will Levis still.

I still think you just gotta let him be a Brown at some point. Make the Browns carry like 9 quarterbacks and have each week be a quarterback competition. Can't hurt. You gotta hit at some point. I mean at least you gotta have a real starter in the NFL at some point. At least give him a chance because you're not getting a chance as QB3 for the Vikings.

Pour one out for the Nine fans here at Barstool. Losing the QB1 battle was bad, rock bottom is losing out to Carson Wentz as QB2 for the time being.
