The MAC Has Released a Statement Saying Replay Protocol Was Not Followed and It Is Petitioning To Have the Western Michigan Result Overturned

Now we go! Death to the secret clock!

This is where any reasonable and impartial person should fall on this matter. I do actually believe the Big Ten when it says its secret clock that nobody knew existed showed one second remaining when the Western Michigan defender touched the ball. But you don't get to use the secret clock in your headquarters that's attached to a Fogo De Chao — that's true, by the way.

If you're going to tell us that even the clock in the stadium that the players, coaches and officials are looking at isn't the real clock, what are we even doing? And Mike Pereira said on Joel Klatt's show this week exactly what the MAC said in its statement, which is that any clock discrepancies are supposed to default to the clock that the millions of people at home are seeing rather the one that five people in your replay center swear exists.

I sincerely hope Western Michigan gets justice. The Big Ten and its soccer-like timekeeping may have won the battle, but the fine folks at the Mid-American Conference fully intend to win the war.

Imagine storming the field for a fraudulent win over an in-state directional school and then having that win actually turned into a loss. Delicious.
