Congrats(?) to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on a shiny new contract extension. Probably not the news Patriots fans were expecting to hear from Robert Kraft before Week 1. T's & P's all around to help ease that pain for them. That fanbase deserves a win.

Exact financial terms weren't disclosed but estimates put his salary around $65 million or more now. Wild numbers to see at first glance… Although haters be damned you can't really argue with his revenue results. He's been making those team owners Scrooge McDuck pool vault money since taking over in 2006. Bananaland growth. And elite numbies for any profession.

(PFT) - In the memo to all owners, a copy of which PFT has obtained, Patriots owner Robert Kraft explained that the Committee “worked closely with an independent third-party compensation consultant and outside counsel to structure a deal that aligns Roger’s compensation with the League’s long-term interests and success.” The contract ties 95 percent of the total compensation to Goodell’s and the league’s “performance measured against various metrics and at the discretion of the Compensation Committee.”

When the league office was structured as a tax-exempt trade association, the NFL was required to disclose Goodell’s compensation on an annual basis. Since the league pivoted away from that approach, there has been no true clarity as to his total pay. Goodell’s extension covers the duration of the current broadcast deals, which means that he’ll be in the captain’s chair for the next wave of TV and streaming contracts. The deal ends, however, not long after the expiration of the current Collective Bargaining Agreement with the NFL Players Association.

Hopefully more money & job security means Roger will have more time for charity events now. They are the beating heart of this country after all. Plus they create such beautiful salt-of-the-earth moments to inspire the world. People helping people, ya know?

Credit where its due though, Goodell has always been wiling to absorb the tough questions so spoiled owners don't have to. It can be pretty hard hitting stuff. Not always the easiest things to answer. Hard to be familiar with every fact out there on earth. I get it.

But above all else, fingers crossed his next NFL era really focuses on enhancing the experience inside the stadium. Instead of choosing to use handcuffs for legally paying fans, they could choose LOVE. Wouldn't that be something special? And in September of all months too? What a heart warming thought.

Crazy that he'll be 72 by the time this extension runs out. Can't imagine he'll go another round after that. Who knows though. Thus far he hasn't really been a guy to wave the white flag. Even when blue ones were fluttering in front of him. Kinda gotta respect the sheer stubbornness there. Just a quarter zip sized smidge of it. Let's not be crazy here.

Either way, as long as he doesn't turn RedZone into a continuous 8 hour commercial, I guess he can stick around for a bit. Admittedly don't really love having to subscribe to 17 different streaming services just to watch my ill performing fantasy players ruin my life. That experience used to be free ya slimey sumbitch!

So maybe consider just slightly less greed for this next chapter Roge? That'd be super duper kemosabe. Just don't forget we're all trusting you to not fuck up the only good thing we have in our God forsaken lives. I'd try my best to avoid summoning the wrath of The Brady 140 Million. Because that can be arranged buddy. And by the way, Mike Kensil is STILL a bitch. Allegedly.
