Angel Reese Takes on Giant 7-Foot-3 Chinese Woman

God damn. That is a big Chinese woman. Look at the height on that lass. Say what you will about Angel Reese, but what are you even supposed to do with that? Once she gets the ball under the basket, I guess you just kinda slap her elbows and hope you don't get a foul called? Once she has it in the paint... well it might not be game over. Zhang Ziyu isn't the most coordinated athlete on the floor. But it's a fairly preposterous task to take on. Whatever happens, it won't be pretty.

To Angel Reese's credit, she put up a better fight than Aliyah Boston did on this play.

On this other play however, Zhang Ziyu had the ball ripped directly out of her enormous hands.

I suppose in reality, Zhang Ziyu isn't that good. She's just remarkably tall. USA won the game 94-61. Zhang Ziyu played about half the game. She went 2-4 with 6 rebounds and a couple blocks. She did however drop 9 out of 10 free throws. She's got that part figured out. Good for Zhang. She's got a little game. Sometimes.

Anyways, now would be the part of any good Angel Reese blog where I post a highlight of Angel Reese worst moments of the game. If I were to do that, I would post this highlight right here.

But I'm looking at the box score now. She went 2-4. Scored 5 points. 9 rebounds. 1 block. Only 1 turnover. I feel like that's a perfectly respectable game for the role I assume Angel Reese is meant to play for Team USA. Look at her and Caitlin Clark teaming up for a basket.

This is a very niche, two years ago Barstool reference, but Angel Reese plays basketball like Billy Football. I played sat the bench for the Barstool NY rec league team a few years ago. Watching Billy play in the paint killed me. He's strong as hell. Grabs rebounds like crazy (oftentimes his own). But every damn time he brought a ball down, he'd back up with it so fast and so reckless. He would never listen to me, but I'd always try to tell him, "Dude… if you took a deep breath every time you grabbed a board, and actually put eyes on the rim when you shot it, you would be Wilt Chamberlain out here."

But he just couldn't do it. He wasn't wired that way. From everything I've seen it's the same thing with Angel Reese. Take a deep breath girl. She's bigger and stronger than everyone (well not China's Zhang Ziyu). It seems like she would be so damn good if she could just take a mental Xanax every time she got the ball under the basket. If you were a scout, you'd probably salivate watching her play.

You would also be excited about her basketball potential. You'd think "Oh this girl is going to be special. All I need to do is teach her the open layup play. She'll be dominant."

Years later you're still banging your head against the wall because for whatever reason she just won't do it. One of these days though… one of these days… she going to figure it out. Or she won't. Unfortunately I'll never know because the only highlights I'll see will be posted to social media by the cottage industry of haters Angel Reese has created for herself.

Good luck to you, Angel.
