Brutal: Greg Schiano Went From Screaming Rutgers Will Be The No. 1 Ranked Team To Explaining How UMass 'Licked Them' Last Night

I always love this first Thursday of college football because every year we get one game that delivers a close, hell of an ending and then another upset. It comes out of nowhere and that's what we got with UMass last night. Even gave us the sad firework show. 

But I look at Greg Schiano instead. The guy who once had Rutgers rolling. The guy who Tennessee tried to hire that caused a revolt and still isn't talked about enough. The guy who took the mic and screamed Rutgers will be the No. 1 ranked team in the country 

Well, instead of being ranked number 1, Schiano is breaking down how they got licked 

Can't say you got licked as a football coach. Ass kicking? Absolutely. Out played? Perfect. Saying you got licked by UMass is only going to lead to more jokes. You got people coming out from all over the place who is now reminded that Greg Schiano is the Rutgers coach and that he lost to UMass. That's the biggest lack of awareness you can have after a loss. If you get upset, you gotta make sure not to say anything dumb so people just move on when games start again today. You're Rutgers, very few people will notice you even played. 

I still can't believe he won 11 games back in 2006. It led to him getting the Bucs job and coming back to Rutgers. Yet here we are. A Pinstripe Bowl, couple 7-win seasons. Just a fascinating career arc to look at, plus all the names who actually played for him at Rutgers. Consider all of Rutgers licked though. Tough times indeed.
