ALERT: Anne Hathaway Is Joining Tom Cruise For 'Days Of Thunder 2' And The Internet Thinks An 'F1' Crossover With Brad Pitt Could Be Coming Next
Oh HELL YEAH brother! This is exactly the type of Hollywood news I wanna hear about on a beautiful summer Saturday afternoon. 40 years later we're getting Cole Trickle back in the saddle plus Anne Hathaway as his NASCAR team owner? All filmed for ass shaking IMAX? Uhhh when do tickets go on sale?
My wheelchair is ready to race down the aisle. I'M DROPPING THE HAMMER!
(SOURCE) - Cruise and Hathaway will hit the road almost 40 years after the original Tony Scott film was released. The project will be shot for IMAX screens, and released exclusively in theaters for formats including Dolby Cinema and 4DX.
Cruise will reprise his role as the scrappy driver Cole Trickle. Plot details are scarce, but Hathaway is set to play a racecar team owner and engineer. Jonathan Levine (“Long Shot,” “Mr. Irrelevant”) is confirmed to direct. Cruise is producing alongside Jerry Bruckheimer and Tommy Harper. In the original, Cruise’s Trickle gets recruited to a new NASCAR team by a retired racing legend (Robert Duvall).

If you've never seen the original, it's definitely worth a weekend watch. Might not have been the biggest or best blockbuster of Cruise's career, but it's got plenty of memorable moments that have helped it live on in infamy. Plus look at that stacked 1990 cast! Incredible talent getting directed by Tony Scott. Although sadly won't be the same without Bobby Duvall in the mix.

Also totally forgot John C. Reilly was in there too. Hilarious considering he starred in the spiritual sequel ‘Talladega Nights' in the 2000s. Maybe we'll get a Ricky Bobby crossover after all? The Internet sure seems to think Brad Pitt's character from 'F1' is gonna show up.
And honestly… I see the vision. As does Joseph Kosinski, who just so happened to direct 'F1' AND 'Top Gun 2'. Hmmm.

Had no idea about their go kart rivalry from back in the day but midas whale use that real tension for a thrilling cinematic experience.
After long days on the set of 'Interview with the Vampire', the two actors would go drive go-karts through the night. Tom Cruise praised Brad Pitt as a "very good driver," but noted that he was often faster and usually won in the end. Pitt has joked that he is still "bitter" about their races 30 years later, recalling how Cruise spun him out on the final corner during their last major outing. While promoting his racing film F1, Pitt mentioned he would be open to a go-kart rematch with Cruise, as long as it didn't involve any of Cruise's signature death-defying stunts.
Imagine a world where 'Days Of Thunder 2' is an absolute smash hit (basically 'Top Gun 2' but for cars) with Anne Hathaway looking hot as hell and the supporting cast filling all their roles perfectly. The rubbing & racing IMAX action is incredible. And then right before the credits role… Sonny Hayes rolls to up the winners podium in a busted up dune buggy to challenge his old friend Cole Trickle to one last battle. An onscreen rivalry that could exactly mirror their real life battle to be the #1 leading man in Hollywood history.
Could be a pretty awesome final ride for a trilogy . Crazier things have happened!
But in the meantime, I'll leave you with the best part of this upcoming sequel. God bless America & Anne Hathaway's vampire DNA. And as always… Raise hell. PRAISE DALE.
