There's Never Been A More Brutal Report Than Ian Rapoport Saying Tua's 'Play Has Made It Impossible' For The Falcons To Name Him QB1 Right Away
[Source] - “It really seemed that the goal of the entire organization was to have Tua be the starting quarterback right away to start the season,” Rapoport said. “Let Michael Penix come along slow. … Really you’d like him to be inactive for the first several games and really just take his time and make sure he’s fully healthy.
“Tua’s play made that impossible, not just in the preseason game, which we’ve seen, but it sounds like practice as well. All of which is to say, this is Michael Penix’s job for the taking.”
Many out there say Hit Em Up or Ether are the most famous/brutal diss tracks out there. Fair. But, now let's bring in Ian Rapoport, who is not to be fucked with
It's not exactly shocking that Michael Penix should be QB1 over Tua. But the man is coming back from a serious injury. You want him to be healthy, especially since people talk about his injury history all the time. You want to make sure he's 100% before you put him back out there. You signed Tua for that sort of protection.
But then those words come out. His play is so bad that it's impossible to just automatically name him QB1. That's unintentionally the meanest thing said about a quarterback. I know it's not Tua's fault he got all that money or where he got drafted or anything like that. But to be playing so bad that a somewhat injured quarterback is better than you is brutal.
If you're Tua you gotta be hoping that Ian Rapoport lies here a little bit. I know he's telling the truth. He's reporting what he's been told. But someone help him out. Just say the Falcons are pleasantly surprised with how fast Penix is coming back from injury and the plan is to start him when healthy, no matter when that is. That softens the blow a bit. Not 'it's impossible' to play Tua right now. Or at least impossible to name him QB1 right now. Tough times out there for Falcons fans, but at least you got an awesome stadium with the cheap concessions.
