TCU Safety Jacob Fields Kicked Off Team After Allegedly Assaulting Teammate in Locker Room and Sending Him To The Hospital

Hell of a situation they have on their hands at Texas Christian University. For those wondering, TCU's win total O/U this year is 7. Whether you believe Sonny Dykes has already lost the locker room to the point of teammates beating the ever living piss out of each other, or if you think TCU is a soft program for kicking off a hard-nosed safety who kicked a teammates ass so hard he sent him to he hospital and will likely miss the first game... idk... I'm just saying... TCU's win total is 7.

The official police report is redacted to hell. So "officially" all we know is that TCU's projected starting safety Jacob Fields, a transfer from Louisiana Tech (last year's C-USA co-defensive player of the year), beat the shit out of an unknown teammate and sent him to the hospital. As a result, Jacob Fields has been kicked off the team.

Jacob Fields' defense, in short – his teammates were being dicks. To the point that he went to TCU's coaches for help. But nothing changed. Then one day things escalated to a point where Jacob Fields blew his top and started whaling on someone.

USA Today – A source who spoke to the Star-Telegram described Fields as "remorseful," saying tensions between him and his new teammates began to rise earlier in the month. The source said Fields felt "targeted" by teammates, and that attempts to reach out to the coaching staff did not result in any de-escalation.

The source also said they didn't believe coach Sonny Dykes knew the full extent of the locker room issues. TCU did not respond to a request for comment by USA TODAY Sports at the time of this story being published.

That's pretty much all we "know". So the rest of this blog is alleged. But allegedly, it was TCU wide receiver Dozie Ezukanma who was sent to the hospital.

The rumor is, Dozie Ezukanma was being a bully. That Jacob Fields felt targeted by teammates with insults and threats. That Jacob Fields was allegedly spit on. Multiple times.

Star-Telegram – A source with direct knowledge of the incident confirmed Fields' involvement in a fight with an offensive player. Fields is described as "remorseful" and "is taking accountability," but the source also believes the incident could've been avoided.

According to the source, tensions began brewing between Fields and his teammates earlier this month in fall camp. The source said Fields felt targeted by teammates with insults and threats, including multiple moments when was allegedly spit on by a teammate.

Jacob Fields agent released this statement regarding the incident.

There's a whole lot to speculate about here. But if I'm any other team in college football in need of a safety, I'll take a flier on Jacob Fields. He was great at Louisiana Tech.

Yahoo – Fields was in line to start for the Horned Frogs in 2026 after leading the Bulldogs in tackles in 2025. Fields had 92 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and 3 interceptions a season ago as Louisiana Tech went 8-5. Fields was named the co-defensive player of the year in Conference USA.

Apparently he doesn't put up with other people's shit. If his teammates were really spitting on him, his reaction doesn't seem THAT unreasonable. I don't necessarily want my defensive backs to have their heads on 100% straight anyways. That's a tough position, I want a guys with a little bit of psycho in them. And if we look at the measurables, Jacob Fields is 5-11, 185-pounds. Dozie Ezukanma is 6-3, 190-pounds. That a bigger guy he was able to… hospitalize.

TCU sounds like it was disaster situation for Jacob Fields specifically. Whether it's this year or next, somebody in college football is going to end up signing a safety with a chip on his shoulder, whose  talent level is beyond what they could have landed without the off-field issues.

Or maybe Jacob Fields is more insane than we think. I have no idea. I was not in TCU's locker room that day. But surely there are worse people who will starting for big time college football programs this season. Manny Ramirez  assaulted a 64-year old traveling secretary and was batting cleanup the next day. If the talent is there, somebody will give him another chance.
