Everything That's Dumb With College Sports - AJ Storr Is Transferring To His 5th Different College Hoops Team In 5 Years Thanks To A Court Ruling
A couple weeks ago this ruling came out that started the whole 5-for-5 court cases across the country. Guys getting granted a 5th year of eligibility and to be honest I'm just so fucking sick of court rulings and college sports. Look, you get bad breaks. I know they had COVID and then the fallout of people who got that free year. But come on. We don't need every single goddamn ruling to go to a court. Just accept it from time to time. You don't get to sue for every bad break. I'm just waiting for someone to say they committed to a shitty coach and they lied to them, free year.
Whatever. The point here is we found the transfer that shows how dumb everything is:
5 colleges in 5 years. Oh and also 9 schools in 9 years
I get we are in a new era. I don't even care about NIL or pay-for-play or whatever you want to call it. Not my money, not my problem. It's the transfer portal. I think it's pretty clear for anyone with a brain that loves the sport it should be this simple. You get one free transfer. After that it goes back to the old rules. If your coach leaves, you get a free transfer. No more of this 5 schools in 5 years bullshit.
The worst part? We're coming off one of the best college basketball years of all time. We had incredible games. We had incredible talent across the board. It was awesome night after night. Now? Now we have an expanded NCAA Tournament, more court rulings and people having no idea who the fuck can even play college basketball anymore. That's as dumb as it gets. It shouldn't be this hard and I'm someone who is glued into every single movement and team out there. It's impossible to follow along with until the season starts because every week someone new is eligible to play.
I don't even know how mad I can get about this anymore, that's where we are at. It's just dumb. That's the only way to describe it and nothing sums up how dumb it is like this. A court ruling, a 5th school, whatever man.
