'The Field Is Ass Right Now' - Hot Start To The Bills New Stadium With A Player Now Talking About How Much The Grass Sucked During Saturday's Game
[Source] - The force of Allen being driven into the ground sent a massive clump of Highmark Stadium’s fresh grass into the air — roots, dirt and all. The rut was so deep that four Bills went onto the field to repair it. Done playing for the day, quarterback Josh Allen, receiver DJ Moore and tackles Dion Dawkins and Spencer Brown turned to gardening. They retrieved the parcel and took turns stomping it back into place.
“The field is ass right now,” said one player who didn’t want to be identified. “But it’s early.”
Hey, I guess it's better than this:
And to be fair some of the players had some positive things to say
“The grass looked good,” Bills linebacker Dorian Williams said. “It was cool. A couple spots kind of chunked up a little bit, but it’s better than playing on (artificial) turf.
“The kinks will keep getting worked out. You can see some of the grass kind of mound up and guys knocking it back down, but I’ve had no traction problems so far.”
“It was actually pretty good,” Panthers running back Jonathon Brooks said. “It was a little lumpy out there, but it wasn’t bad. The grass felt good.”
Not exactly the best kind of statements but better than calling it ass. The whole problem was how the grass chunked up, came out of place, all that sort of stuff. And, hey, it's 100% better than the artificial turf, especially at MetLife where we see guys knees give out all the time. That's a step in the right direction. But you can't be getting your new stadium called ass after one preseason game. At a minimum we need to know what player said this. It should be bullshit to hide anonymously, especially with a pretty solid statement.
Obviously it will (at least should) get better before the first real game, but you still gotta get through the preseason here. People are looking to shit on this no matter what after that first video came out with the obstructed views and all that stuff. At some point can we just get all stadium to have the same surface? That seems like the smart thing to do.
