Fernando Mendoza's Biggest Shock About Playing In The NFL - Not Riding A Bus And Having To Drive Himself To His First Game, Of Course

So we're now officially in the preseason game portion of the year. Great, it's the best time to overreact to 3rd string guys and convince yourself this is the shit that matters. Nothing beats scouting your own guys before the actual season. Sending a text to your boys that you found the hidden gem in the 5th tight end hits every year. But on the flip side we have Fernando Mendoza, the number 1 pick, and number 1 kinda corny but also beloved guy in the world

And he looked good in the first preseason game. Might be something onto the whole being terrified of the Strip while also being an elite football player. But, in typical Mendoza fashion, he got asked what shocked him the most about his first NFL game:

[Source] - Mendoza was surprised by two things in his first NFL game: Defenders being much faster compared with college and having to drive to the game.

"That was the first time I've ever done that because usually college, you just hop on the bus," Mendoza said. "It's very regimented, so there's a lot more autonomy that you get as an NFL player, a lot more flexibility, and I think that's going to be beneficial in the future."

I'll say this, Mendoza needs to be decent because you can't do this whole aw shucks corny stuff and suck as the number 1 pick. I think it'll wear thin on people in the NFL if you're a bust as the number 1 pick. He's even doubling down on the I'm kind of a dork personality:

I love the thought of Mendoza waiting at the practice facility or something like that and the bus not showing up. I know he knew he had to drive himself, but I can't help but picture this elite athletic specimen of a man holding a backpack and no one telling him to drive himself.
