Anything For A Win: South Korea's Soccer Association Had To Apologize For Reportedly 'Bribing Refs With Sexual Services' Before And After International Games
[Source] - The government’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism first issued the report in 2016 after investigating corruption in the Korea Football Association (KFA). But it wasn’t made public until last week, when South Korean channel and CNN affiliate JTBC obtained the report and published its damning details.
The report, which CNN has since obtained from lawmaker Jin Sun-mi’s office, found that the KFA paid for “sexual entertainment” at massage parlors on at least eight occasions from 2011 to 2012, for foreign referees and football officials visiting South Korea. Three of the matches involved were qualifiers for the World Cup and Olympic Games.
In total, the KFA spent nearly 5.6 million Korean won (about $3,950) on “sexual entertainment” in that one-year period, the report found. Many of these times, KFA employees allegedly filed false expense reports chalking up the charges to meals, drinks, or standard massages.
Oh hell yeah, this is soccer at its finest right here. We got a report from 2016 that was never public, we got bribes and sexual favors. That's how you know it's soccer at its finest. They will do anything for a win. There's nothing off the table when it comes time to bribing refs. Go spend $3,950 at the massage parlor for some sexual favors before and after international matches. The best part? None of this is new! This is all from the 2010s and is coming out now because of their own doing:
I don't think we get this story if they didn't suck in this past World Cup. That's accountability though. When you're a decent program, you gotta make drastic changes after a bad showing. No just moving on with your life. You do an investigation, you find out that there were some sexual favor bribes from over a decade ago and let out a whoopsie, didn't mean for that to get out.
It's not even like South Korea really needed the help too. They are the premier soccer country in Asia. They have a ton of talent, they always make the World Cup. But, this is high level soccer. You ain't in the mix if you don't have at least one bribing controversy on your hands. Smart to do it with the sexual favors and blame the high bills on drinking. That's the perfect excuse. You went out to celebrate after a win!
This is why no one should give a shit that Flo Balogun's red card got overturned. Everyone in soccer has some sort of dark story or bribe or something that influences a decision. It's the beautiful game! Need to know how these bribes went down and discussed with the refs. The apology will smooth everything over though.
