I Knew My Ass was Grass- Behind my Gameplay of Surviving Barstool
“You come for the king, you best not miss.” Unfortunately, I missed. I came for the king, and I failed. So now I need to simultaneously give Rone his flowers and give a little bit of shit to both Marty and Glenny.
From the beginning, I was out to get Rone and I knew Rone could sense as much. For those who have not watched, you should. But it is also important to note that my tribe was made up of Rone (NY), Meek (NY), Glenny (NY), Marty (NY), Katic (Chi), and myself (Chi). During our first tribal council, I knew the New York boys on my tribe would end up making the decision on who to vote out. I did not think they would gun for me first, as I assumed they would want to quickly vote out one of their own- Meek Phil. When they suggested that we vote out Katic, I decided to vote with them because the numbers were already stacked against me and I wanted to establish trust. And thus, Katic was a goner. To be honest, he made it too easy. He questioned nothing and went along with everything.
Following Katic’s elimination, I knew it was going to be either Meek or myself next. Between the challenge and the tribal council we had about 3 hours to deliberate, look for idols, and talk amongst each other. A few names had been thrown out there but nothing was solidified by the time Meek approached me about voting against Rone. I knew that if I wanted to make a big move and try to save myself, I had to get Rone out of the game. I spoke to both Marty and Glenny on numerous occasions and neither one of them could give me a solid reason as to why they wouldn't vote out Rone. At one point I told them both to “pull their big boy pants up,” as I was growing more and more frustrated at their lack of decisiveness. As the production team gathered our tribe before council, I was unsure of where I stood but assumed and prayed that either Marty or Glenny would vote with me.
I sat anxiously in the Gambling Cave with Meek, waiting for the production team to corral the rest of my tribe. After about two minutes, I realized I needed to go find those boys on my own because they were definitely scheming. I left the Gambling Cave and quickly made my way upstairs. As I reached the top of the steps, I spotted Glenny, Marty, and Rone opening a door and exiting the room. I knew I was probably fucked. I turned back around to head down the stairs and from behind me, I heard Rone ask Marty and Glenny, “Did you boys pull your big boy pants up?” It was in this very moment that I knew I was not just probably fucked, I was absolutely fucked. I didn’t even turn around to look at Rone, as I already knew he was most likely shooting daggers into the back of my head. I had no time left to consider a last minute move and I was stuck between a rock and a hard place. My only hope was that either Tweedledee or Tweedledum would flip on Rone at the last second and save me.
And alas, we headed to tribal council. I spent the entirety of the walk to tribal council until the moment I got voted out trying to plan a last minute scheme to somehow save myself. Despite Rone’s suspicions of his allies turning on him, I knew I was about to be the one voted out. After seeing Rone, Marty, and Glenny walk out of that room, it was clear to me that Rone had those two wrapped around his finger. And no more than 10 minutes later, Jeff D. Lowe announced that I had officially been voted off of Surviving Barstool.
I am completely at peace with how I left the game. I was a sitting duck amongst a group of New Yorkers who refused to stray from one another. I tried to make a move, as did Meek, and it didn’t work.
Overall, I had the most amazing time competing in Surviving Barstool. I absolutely loved the gameplay aspect and would take any opportunity to play again. The behind-the-scenes people were all so wonderful to work with and it is always crazy to see how much work goes into this type of thing. I don’t know much about what happens throughout the rest of Surviving Barstool, but I am excited to watch it all unfold with the audience. And as always, have a lovely day everyone!
