Next Level Delusion: Monta Ellis Believes Nothing Would Have Changed If You Swapped Him With Steph Curry On The Warriors Championship Teams

When the Warriors beat the Celtics in the 2022 NBA Finals I was genuinely happy, and let me tell ya it takes a lot to get this guy to be happy for other people. Obviously any Boston sadness fuels my will to live, but besides that I was just happy for Steph Curry to finally slay the last bit of negative narrative regarding his greatness. Every title he won before that the Meek Phils of the world, who can't go a second of their awful lives without trying to make everyone else miserable, allowed themselves to nitpick how little of an impact he had. Before that title all you'd hear was how he had zero Finals MVP awards and that Andre Iguodala was more important than him when it came to winning time. What those morons failed to recognize or consider is how Curry was double or sometimes triple teamed at all times because of how deadly he was on the court. That allowed for everyone else to succeed. That's why Kevin Durant waltzed to back to back Finals MVPs.

Well after the win over Boston there was nothing else anyone could say. Curry's legacy was cemented and his place among the all-time greats was validated. That title win was the equivalent of Thanos getting the final infinity stone. He had nothing left to prove to the game of basketball. At least that's what he thought.

Enter Monta Ellis the other day.

10/10 laugh out loud funny quote. You gotta hand it to the guy, he's always been confident and never has been afraid to shoot. This is the same guy who said he'd put himself in the same category as Dwyane Wade. Such a good clip.

This man would not allow Curry to have the spotlight and pseudo top dawg label on the team. Incredibly enough, the only two seasons they shared together were the only seasons Ellis led the league shot attempts per game. He had one speed and that was chuck, even when the team got better with a good who could shoot way better than him. As it became abundantly clear Curry was a budding star in the league it was all the more frustrating to watch how him take a back seat to Monta Ellis. Thankfully in year three the Warriors decided enough was enough and got Ellis out of there, anointing Curry as the guy. Safe to say that decision worked out.

I guess I was wrong, maybe the Curry slander will never end. Not exactly sure why everyone decided recently they're just as good as the greatest shooter of all time and one of the best guards to ever play the game.

Dame obviously has a better case than MONTA ELLIS, but I still think it's insanely disrespectful to say you could swap them and get the same results.  The KD teams I'll relent on. Decent shot Dame wins one with those guys, but everything outside of that I won't hear you on. I truly don't think any of the Warriors teams win with Monta Ellis. Respect to him though, you don't reach a level like the NBA and have a 12 year career without thinking you're 10x better than you actually are. You gotta have that insane confidence and belief in yourself. My biggest takeaway from all of this is we need more Monta Ellis quotes.
